WHY WE CELEBRATE

LISA HEANEY

An amazing wife and mother, a true friend, a teammate, a teacher, a registered dietitian, and a devoted caretaker to her own mother.

Lisa was also a runner — it was in her DNA. Her family, friends, and anyone who regularly passed her on Abbott Road knew it well. Her passion carried her through more 5Ks than anyone could count, dozens of marathons and half marathons, and even a triathlon. She inspired everyone around her with her commitment to health and constant motion — she'd jog in place while catching up with a friend through a car window, unwilling to let a conversation slow her down.

Lisa's devotion to her own health and well-being was matched only by her eagerness to help others find theirs. It wasn't just a job — it was a calling. She put her heart and soul into everything she did, and into everyone she met.

On September 2, 2022, searching for a way to mark the first of Lisa's birthdays we couldn't share with her, we set a goal: walk or run a combined fifty-six miles in her honor. Family, friends, coworkers, and even her middle school cross-country teammates showed up and logged their share of the distance.

What started as one day of remembrance has become a tradition.
