Happy Birthday, Lisa!
Lisa Heaney: an amazing wife and mother, a true friend, a teammate, a teacher, a registered dietician, and a caretaker to her own mother. Lisa was also a runner - it was in her DNA. Her family, friends, and those who regularly saw her running on Abbott Road knew it. Her passion resulted in her completing more 5K runs than we can count, many marathons and half marathons, and even a triathlon. Lisa inspired us with her focus on health and constant movement – she even jogged in place when catching up with a friend through their car window. Not only was Lisa devoted to her own health and well-being, but she was also eager to help others do the same – it was a vocation. She put her heart and soul into everything she did and everyone she met.
On September 2, 2022, in search of a way to recognize the first of Lisa’s birthdays we could not share with her, we set a goal of walking/running a combined fifty-six miles in her honor. This resulted in a day spent by her family, friends, coworkers, and even middle school cross-country teammates contributing their share of the distance. Now, it has become a tradition.
